A Detailed Explanation of the Process.
  • To use PayByCheck (Standard Payment Interface, or Pop-Up Payment Interface), simply add HTML code to your web site. PayByCheck also supports links that create a virtual shopping cart to hold multiple items (not supported with the Pop-Up Payment Interface). A simple to use Link Maker is located in the PayByCheckUtilities.

  • The appearance of the check form, low and high dollar limits, fraud blocking, and your verification options, can all be controlled from within the PayByCheck Utilities.

  • When your customers want to buy your goods or services, they click on your PayByCheck link.

  • Your customer is then presented with a secure online form that resembles a physical check where they enter their ABA routing, account, and check numbers.

  • The customer next sees a 'Confirmation Page' where they have the opportunity to review the information they provided and read the required legal information.

  • The check writer's information is sent to our verification / validation databases. These options are set in your PayByCheck Utilities.

  • By clicking on the 'I Agree' button on the 'Confirmation Page' they are directed to either your specified page for 'approved' transactions or your specified page for 'declined' transactions. If you do not specify a refresh URL in your account settings, the customer will be sent to the PayByCheck system default page.

  • Your customer is immediately sent an e-mail receipt for the transaction, or denial message. The receipt will appear to come from you and contains your company name, contact information, amount, date, check number and a unique reference number.

  • You are also sent an immediate notification of the transaction. This notice contains the customer's name, amount, the unique reference number and the status "Approved" or "Declined". This notice will appear to have been sent by your customer so if you wish you can set up an auto responder to send your customer additional information.

  • PayByCheck processing day ends at midnight Eastern Time. Paper drafts are printed and mailed the following morning. For ECP merchants, transactions are sent to the Federal Reserve for origination the next bank cycle and are settled into your bank account according to your ECP agreement, typically five bank days.

  • All transaction history is available real-time from within the PayByCheck Utilities. You can also void approved transactions and approve declined transactions.

  • Account fees are billed to your statement daily and paid using PayByCheck AutoPay feature.
